**At Rummel Creek, students may check out as many books as needed, however typically students have 2 to 3 books out per week. Students may visit the library daily to acquire new books.
**Students are responsible for respecting LLC materials - computers, ipads and books 24/7. Expectations include using appropriate apps and websites as well as returning materials to the correct place and leaving the LLC better than they found it.
**Parents are invited and encouraged to visit the LLC to learn about the materials and check out books. Use the RCE LLC as your local library!
**The Librarian is available to assist parents, students and staff. Please drop by and utilize the resources available in the RCE LLC.
Technology at RCE:
Rummel Creek is a BYOD school, students may bring in their own devices. Student personal devices must be put away unless instructed by a teacher to utilize the device. Even on personal devices, students must follow school and district guidelines. A great resource at school and at home for using technology is Common Sense Media. Common Sense Media provides reviews and helpful tips to encourage proper use of the internet and devices. As we continue to use technology at school for our learning, we need to monitor screen time with our students.
The RCE Library is staffed by Karen Harrell and Kerry Latiolais. Karen is a certified librarian and classroom teacher with more than 38 years of experience working in libraries and classrooms, 28 at RCE. Karen has been fortunate to design two library facilities while on the Rummel Creek Campus. Kerry is our wonderful support staff encouraging students to try new things. Our goal in the library is to encourage students to read and become owners of their learning. The MakerSpaces, Tinkerspaces and ThinkerSpaces in the Library Learning Commons are designed to create a love of learning with a hint of curiosity with the students. The RCE Library Learning Commons has been created to making learning fun, enriching and exciting.
