As Spring Branch ISD’s 80th anniversary year begins, we have much to celebrate! Our proud legacy of excellence continues through another outstanding year of achievement by our students, staff and schools.
From academic growth and college readiness to statewide recognitions and accountability results, SBISD continues to demonstrate what is possible when exceptional educators, engaged families and a supportive community come together for the success of Every Child.
This past year, SBISD earned several prestigious national and statewide recognitions that reflect the strength of our schools and the success of our students. We were the only district in Texas and one of only 108 nationwide named an Education Scorecard District on the Rise by Harvard and Stanford Universities.
For the second consecutive year, we were recognized as a Career and Technical Education Association of Texas District of Distinction, and for the sixth year, a Texas Art Education District of Distinction. This summer, our athletics program also earned designation as a Texas Way District of Distinction for exceptional sportsmanship, character development and community engagement. Together, these honors reflect SBISD's commitment to excellence across academics, career preparation, the arts and student success.
Our 2026 state accountability results further affirm the outstanding work taking place across SBISD and our commitment to continuous improvement.
One of the clearest measures of that success is our continued academic growth.
Spring 2026 STAAR Highlights
STAAR provides an important benchmark for comparing student achievement across Texas, and this past year's results once again demonstrate SBISD's strong academic performance.
SBISD outperformed both the state and the region overall in Grades 3–8 Math and Reading, as well as Grade 8 Social Studies and Grade 5 and 8 Science, at the Approaches, Meets and Masters performance levels.
In math, SBISD exceeded the state by 13 percentage points and the region by 10 points at the Meets level, while outperforming both by 11 and 9 percentage points, respectively, at the Masters level.
In reading, SBISD exceeded the state by 9 percentage points and the region by 6 points at the Meets level, and by 12 and 9 percentage points, respectively, at the Masters level.
End-of-Course (EOC) Highlights
Our secondary students demonstrated exceptional growth.
SBISD improved in 12 of the 15 End-of-Course performance measures.
Biology posted significant gains, improving 10 percentage points at the Meets level and 17 percentage points at the Masters level.
English I improved 5 percentage points at the Meets level, while English II increased 6 percentage points.
SBISD outperformed both the state and the region in Algebra I, Biology and U.S. History at all three performance levels and exceeded both in English I and English II at the Meets and Masters levels.
Beyond STAAR, students continued to excel on measures of college readiness and college entrance exams.
Preliminary Advanced Placement® results were equally impressive. This past year, 77% of AP exams earned a qualifying score of 3 or higher, up from 74% in 2025 and 64% in 2024. In addition, 1,273 students earned AP Scholar recognition, a 15% increase over last year and a 70% increase since 2022.
Preliminary School Day SAT results show SBISD 48 points above the state average and 51 points above the average of all global test takers.
These accomplishments belong to our entire SBISD community: our students, teachers, principals, support staff, families, volunteers and community partners. Together, you make these successes possible.
